Writing Television Ask Home About Me Theme
About Me

My name is Frankie and I am a twenty three year old, occasionally unemployed but currently working in telesales, aspiring writer and human, with abandonment issues that I’m pretty sure date back to Ginger leaving The Spice Girls, who lives with her parents in a horribly small place in the UK. I’m hoping to change all of these things as soon as possible. Not my name, I like my name, and I guess my age will change all on it’s own, but the rest of it, you get what I’m saying.

When I was younger I was a cross country runner and now I have excellent taste in television and awful taste in film - I think these two things are connected. I sort of have a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, which somehow matters even less to me than it does to any of my potential employers. I spend my time complaining about my considerably lucky lot in life, trying to smoke without alerting my parents to the fact that I smoke, writing, drinking tea, watching good television, reading any book I can get my hands on and learning to teach English as a foreign language so I can get out of this town. I’m really, very enthusiastic about fiction and small animals and people with kind eyes. Sometimes I talk about books, a lot, on here. I hope that’s alright.

My hair is kind of long, but I wish it were longer and it’s also red. When I was at university a Latvian girl told me I have the same blood type as Jesus. Last year I took an online quiz that told me I had the same personality type as Shakespeare. Both of these things went to my head. I’m a feminist. I can’t drive.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions!

Where is your URL from?

T S Eliot’s The Waste Land. It’s the best poem, go read it.

What colours do you use on your hair?

Mostly Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL in Real Red. The trick to getting it extra bright is to have a perm recently beforehand, use two packets of dye and leave it on longer than you should. Only don’t actually do these things because you’re not supposed to and I don’t want to be responsible for anyone’s head but my own swelling to the size of a melon.

What Are Your Favourite TV Shows?

Oz, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, Luther, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The X Files, Black Books, Community, Spaced, Parks and Recreation, The Wire, Buffy, Skins, Green Wing and Arrested Development.

What Are You Writing?

I recently finished a complete draft of a play that I never want to look at again; it took a really long time. I sort of hope that writing for the stage is where my life is headed, but churning out an eighty page, angry feminist/sad feminist reworking of Beauty and the Beast was sort of hard and sort of stupid and may be where this particular train comes to a halt. We shall see.

Otherwise I am always writing a novel shaped thing about people who live forever.

I don’t expect any of you to take any of these things seriously, god knows why I do, but if you ever find yourself in the grip of a strong urge to read some mediocre and directionless prose, you could always visit my writing tag.

Who Are Your Favourite Authors?

Jeanette Winterson, Banana Yoshimoto, Jean Rhys, Sylvia Plath, Alan Moore, Mary Shelley, Sarah Kane, Virginia Woolf, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Emily Bronte, Kazuo Ishiguro, Mary Wollstonecraft, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, J M Coetzee, Alice Walker, Angela Carter, Thomas Hardy, Chuck Palahunik, Zadie Smith, John Green, T S Eliot, Lorrie Moore, Maya Angelou, Kahlil Gibran, William Faulkner, Walt Whitman, Charles Dickens, Emily Dickinson and Jonathan Safran Foer are probably my favourites as of right now this moment. I need to expand my horizons a whole lot more.

Are you gay?

Totally, yes, lesbian o’ clock.

Are you single?

I haven’t kissed anyone in almost a year, I’m not even going to tell you how long it’s been since anything else and the last time I went out I spent like half an hour talking to a sixty year old man called Paddy who told me that when he was young he would come into the pub with a pound and get three pints of beer, two chicken legs, a bag of crisps, a bag of pork scratchings, a pickled egg and still have five pence change and for that you could buy two portions of chips for a women called Chai who would let you have a go on her round the back of the punchbowl WHILE she ate the chips. So yes. I am single.
